NORI NORI KYOTO E-BIKE GUIDE
How to Use Your E-Bike Controls
A simple English guide to the Japanese buttons and display on our Panasonic electric-assist bicycles.

These bikes use Panasonic’s LCD Switch 5 (液晶スイッチ5). The official assist modes are Power (パワー), Automatic (オートマチック) and Long (ロング).

-
Switch on without pressing the pedals.
Press POWER and wait about 1–2 seconds before you start riding. -
Use Automatic for normal sightseeing.
For most Kyoto rides, this is the easiest setting. -
Use Power when you need more help.
Choose Power for hills, bridges, stronger headwinds or heavier loads.
The official Panasonic range figures above are measured under standardized test conditions. Actual range changes with rider weight, hills, stops, temperature, tire pressure and assist mode.
Electric bike with child seat
The child-seat E-Bike uses a similar Panasonic LCD control. For most riders, keep it in Automatic mode and only switch to Power for hills or a heavier load.
Panasonic SW
The SW is deliberately simple. There is no assist-mode selector and no LCD menu: press the power button and the bike uses its automatic assist setting.

How to Use the Lock & Kickstand
These are the two things riders most often forget after leaving the shop. Our staff will demonstrate both at pickup.
5-Digit Combination Cable Lock
Our staff will give you the 5-digit combination code when you pick up the bicycle.
- To lock: pass the flexible cable through the bicycle frame or wheel and insert the cable end into the lock body.
- To unlock: line up the 5 numbers with the code given by our staff, then pull the cable out.
- After unlocking: keep the lock in its normal position and store it safely on the bicycle.
Side Kickstand with Safety Latch
The stand has a small latch near the pivot. Use your foot gently — there is no need to force it.
- To put the stand down: lightly push the small latch backward with your foot, then swing the stand down and back until it is fully open.
- To put the stand up: move the stand forward and up until it returns to the riding position and the small latch returns to its locked position.
- Before riding: check that the stand is fully up and not hanging down.
Before you start
- Do not press the pedals while switching the bike on. Give the system about 1–2 seconds to initialize first.
- For most Kyoto sightseeing, use Automatic mode.
- The remaining range and remaining time are estimates. Hills, rider weight, stops, temperature and assist mode can change the actual result.
- If the battery becomes empty, the bicycle can still be ridden as a normal bicycle, but it will feel heavier.
- If the display shows an error, unusual flashing, or the assist feels abnormal, stop riding and contact NoriNori.
