Central Kyoto is relatively flat, but sightseeing days can still involve long distances between temples, shrines and shopping areas. Electric assist makes repeated starts, longer routes and gentle slopes easier while still letting you travel at bicycle pace.
- Useful for longer routes such as Arashiyama or southern Kyoto.
- Less tiring for a full day of stop-and-go sightseeing.
- Different frame sizes are available, so you can choose a bike that fits your height and riding style.
- If the battery runs out, the bicycle can still be ridden without electric assist.
What is included with your rental?
Every rental includes a helmet, phone holder, basket and lock. We also provide basic riding and bicycle-parking guidance before departure.
Pickup, return and parking
- Normal rental hours are 9:00 AM–6:00 PM.
- After-hours self-return can be arranged until 10:00 PM. For electric bikes, an additional ¥700 per bike applies for returns after 6:00 PM.
- Please use designated bicycle parking. Do not leave the bicycle outside hotels, apartments, shops or on the roadside unless parking is clearly permitted.
- Please bring one passport or another accepted form of ID when you pick up your bike.
Frequently asked questions
How much is an e-bike rental in Kyoto?
Our electric bikes start from ¥2,300 for a full day. Velo Star and Velo Star Mini are ¥2,500, and the electric bike with child seat is ¥3,000.
Do I need to pay online?
Most standard bookings are paid at pickup. For rentals of 3 days or more, some group bookings, or special arrangements, a deposit may be required and will be confirmed with you in advance.
Do I need to reserve in advance?
Walk-ins are possible when bikes are available, but reserving in advance is recommended if you need a specific e-bike model or several bicycles.
Can I use an e-bike for Arashiyama?
Yes. Many riders choose an e-bike for longer sightseeing routes. Check your battery level before departure and choose an appropriate assist mode for the distance.
Where can I park the bike?
Use designated bicycle parking facilities. Kyoto actively enforces bicycle parking rules, especially around busy shopping streets, temples and central sightseeing areas.
